Despite the submission made by the Law Society of Ireland and STEP Ireland, see here, the Directive has now been passed by the European Parliament providing for a public register of trusts. It is hoped that with further submissions made at Irish and UK level, the Council of Ministers will seek to amend this Directive before it has direct effect for Irish trusts.
