The Commencement Order for the Civil Partnership and Cohabitants legislation is now in force with effect from 1 January 2011. For more details on this legislation see here and here. The changes to the social welfare and tax codes will also be in effect from 1 January 2011 although the details of the tax code changes have not yet been published.
The statutory instrument that has brought into force this press release has now been published, see here. This lists the types of foreign partnerships in each relevant country that Ireland will recognise as a civil partnership.
