The EU are seeking to provide further clarification as to which jurisdiction's law should apply in the case of a married couple seeking a divorce where the couple are from different EU member states. For recent developments on this see attached news article.
The Brussels II and Brussels II bis– the Council regulations (EC) No 1347/00 of 1 March 2001 and 2201/2003 of 27 November 2003 on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgements in matrimonial matters and matters of parental responsibility entered into force on 1 March 2005 in all Member States other than Denmark.
