We welcome the appointment of the inaugural chairperson of the TAC who will be responsible for the strategic direction and the overall management and performance of the TAC. This includes responsibility for ensuring that appeals are being processed, adjudged and determined in a timely manner. The Chairperson will also act as the accounting officer for the TAC and will be responsible for its Annual Report to the Minister of Finance.
While initially hearings were postponed because of COVID19 restrictions, these have since been reopened and where possible remotely. It is understood that the TAC will retain the use of remote hearing long term as it has been a resounding success in getting through a lot of the backlog of cases.
