Research on Instagram posts made by deceased popular singer Johnny Hallyday has led a French court to rule that he was domiciled in France, so his family's dispute over his estate must be decided under French law. Hallyday, a long-time resident of California, died in Los Angeles in 2017, leaving his USD100-million estate to his American wife. However, his son and daughter are claiming a share based on France’s forced heirship laws. Recently, they produced social media evidence purporting to show that he spent 151 days in France in 2015, and 168 in 2014. His widow will appeal.
